The Landö backpack
Every detail finished by hand
The Landö backpack is made in Sweden from 18 oz waxed cotton canvas and 3.5 mm vegetable-tanned leather from Tärnsjö Garveri. Every leather part is cut, bevelled, waxed and polished by hand, then fixed with solid copper rivets set by hand. The back panel is padded with compressed sheep wool from Woolpower in Östersund,
and the base is reinforced with a double layer, built to last for years
Each backpack is numbered and registered to its first owner, and backed by our lifetime warranty.

Woven in Dundee since 1864
Our 18 oz waxed canvas comes from Halley Stevensons in Dundee, Scotland, who have been making waxed cotton since the 1864. Stiff and water-repellent when new, it softens with use and takes on the marks of every trip.

Our bags and leather goods are made with vegetable-tanned leather from Tärnsjö Garveri, tanning leather in Sweden since 1873. Used every day, it darkens and develops a patina that is yours alone.

Every pair is made for hard use outdoors, in full-grain cowhide, elk, bison or goat. Some are unlined for feel and dexterity, others lined with Kevlar or wool for protection and warmth. Firm at first, they soften slowly and take the shape of your hands.

Every leather detail is cut, bevelled, waxed and polished by hand, then set with solid copper rivets. Nothing is hidden or sealed shut, so a worn strap can be replaced and a seam can be resewn.
